IELTS Writing Task 1 Table Questions with Model Answers

Tables contain more numbers than you can report in 150–200 words. The skill being tested is selection: choosing the highest, lowest and most striking figures and organising them into logical groups.

How to practise

  • Scan rows and columns for the maximum, minimum and any clear pattern before writing.
  • Group rows or columns by similarity rather than going line by line.
  • Quote only the figures that support your comparisons.
  • Make sure the overview names the main pattern across the whole table.
